HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 808 (1979) ORDINANCE NO. 808 -e AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TUSTIN CITY CODE TO PROVIDE FOR PARKING FOR THE HANDICAPPED PERSONS. The City Council of the City of Tustin, California, ordains as follows: 1. That Ordinance Number 774 is hereby repealed. 2. That the Tustin City Code is hereby amended by the addition thereto of subsection "h" to Section 4332 to i~ read as follows: i0~i h. Parking for Physically Handicapped Persons !!~ No person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle on !i any street or portion of a street established by !2i! ~esolution as an area restricted exclusively for !~ use by vehicles of physically handicapped persons I~ as defined in Section 22511.5 as that section now ~i provides or may hereafter provide and which vehicles ~-!i display either one of the distinguishing license !Sii oi~tes or distinguishing placard issued by the .i Department of Motor Vehicles pursuant to the provisions of the California Vehicle Code as it now provides or may hereafter provide when su~ area is designated by appropriate signs .and by blue paint upon the curbed surface -.adjacent thereto, unless such vehicle is entitled to display and is displaying the license plate or placard described above. ii 2 The Tustin City Code is hereby amended by the addition ~i thereof cf subsection "i" to Section 5332 to read as follows: !i i. The Tustin City Code is hereby amended by the addition thereto of subsection "j" to Section 5332 to read as follows: j. No person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle in an_v off-street parking area, public or private, which has been designated by r~solution as restricted for the exclusive use of vehicles of physically handicapped persons as defined in Section 22511 of the California Vehicle Code as it now provides or may hereafter provide which vehicles display either one Of the distinguishing license plates or distinguishing placards issued to such persons pursuant to California Vehicle Code, provided that the-parking stall or area is indicated by Dosring immediately adjacent ' thereto a sign consisting of a profile view of a wheelchair with. occupant in white on a 'hiue background and by blue paint upon the curb surface in~mediately adjacent thereto, unless such vehicle is entitled to display and is displaying the license plate or placard described above. The City will only designate such areas on privately owned property upon written request and consent of the property owner and upcn ~nstallation and maintenance of the required designations at the cost and expense of the property owner.
