ORDINANCE NO. 760
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA
AMENDING TUSTIN CITY CODE RELATIVE TO EXCEPTIONS
TO SIGN CONTROL
The City Council of the City of Tustin, California, does ordain that
the Tustin City Code be amended as fol-lows:
l) Section 9470 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"9470 EXCEPTIONS
"a Authorization
"The City Council may grant authorization for signs which are not
within the purview of the standards and criteria established by
this Chapter, due to unusual circumstances related to the development
activity, or location of the proposed signing, subject to any of
the following criteria:
"(1) Subject property is developed with structural setback
more than two times the minimum front setback requirement of the
district.
"(2) Subject property frontage is at least 75% of the
minimum frontage requirements for like signing.
"(3) Proposed signing 'does not exceed more than one in
number nor more than 15% in area of the aggregate size of signs
.authorized by the criteria of the district.
"(4) The proposed signing wo'uld be in substantial conformance
with the purposes and intent of this Chapter and would not con-
stitute a health or safety violation as described in Part 4 of
'this Chapter.
"b Application
"(1) Application for exceptions to the standards and criteria
of this Chapter may be made in writing by a property owner or his
authorized agent to the Community Development Department. The
application shall include a sign plan in 5 copies, indicating
proposed colors by number or sample, size of letters, location,
intensity, elevations of free standing or wall area, and plot

]' plan showing all existing and proposed signing on the parcel, and
~ identification of other signing within 300 linear feet of the
r~ proposed sign location, and/or with such other information and
~ 4 material as may be required by the Community Development Director.
5 "(2) The Community Development Director shall cause the
6 application to be reviewed and shall submit it, together with an
analysis and recommendation, to the City Council for its review
8 and approval or disapproval."
9 PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council, City of
10' Tustin, California, held on the 21st day of February, 1978.
