HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 584 (1973) ORDINANCE NO. 584 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, ADDING SECTIONS 25-0-180 AND 1 25-0-190 TO THE TUSTIN CITY CODE RELATIVE TO UNDERGROUNDING REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS ~ 2 FOR CABLE TELEVISION SYSTEMS 5 The City of Tustin does ordain as follows: 4 Section I: Sectio~ 25-0-180 is added to the Tustin City Code to read as follows: 5 25-0-180. Undergroundin~ ReqUirements. 6 (a) All distribution lines and individual service lin~ 7 for Cable Television Systems shall be required to be installed underground in accordance with the 8 provisions of this Section and Section 25-0-190, except upon express waiver by the Planning Commis- 9 sion. The Planning Commission shall not grant any such waiver except for-those areas where other 10 utilities are installed above ground. 11 (b) All new development, residential, commercial and industrial shall be required to install under- 12 ground CATV conduit facilities in accordance with the provisions of this Section and Section 25-0-19 15 except upon express waiver by the Planning Commis- sion at the time of approval of a tentative tract 14 map or Parcel Map. 15 (c). All new development, residential, con~nercial and " 'industrial shall be limited to the need to providei 16 conduit, pull line and marker 19GA copper wire in continuous sealed runs to the standards in accord-[ 17 ance with the provision of the Section and Section' 25-0-190. 18 Section II: Section 25-0-190 is added to the Tustin City Code to 19 read as follows: 20 25-0-190. Undergrounding Specifications. All Cable Television Systems installed in the City of Tustin '21 shall be done in accordance with the following require- ments and specifications: (a) Required quantity. Two (2) conduits, each conduit 25 to be two and one-half inches (2 1/2") for all main trunking; two inches (2") for all sub-trunking; 2~ and one and one-half inches (11/2") for distribu- tion cabling. Additional spare ducting in this 25 category for new developments will be restricted to providing extra conduit for main trunking ~6 routes only. ~7 (b) .All underground cabling will be run in conduit. 28 The preferred conduit size (depending on size, type and number of cables to be used) ~ill be two and one-half (2 1/2") for trunk, two inch (2") for 29 sub-trunk and one and one-half inch (11/2") for distribution cabling. There shall be a spare duct~ ~0 of the largest size used in each trench location for each two duc[s or less required. Preferable ~ duct. is scheduled 40 PVC, ABS on Polyethyiene ROm~ 32 Spec. B221X-G or equal. 1 1. Where individual ducts are laid, colored plastic will be used to form a color oriented duct system to facil 2 itate identification of the cables they contain, or other metho'd of identification using continuous mark- 5 ing of duct. 4 2. The mini, mum specification for ducting will be as fol- lows. Equivalent or better standards may be substi- 5 tuted. 6 (a) Each cable will be installed in a separate con- duit except as a final drop to the individual 7 subscriber ' s building. 8 (b) Outdoor conduit shall be placed underground with a minimum depth of eighteen inches (18"). 9 (c) Each run of cable is to be placed in a separate 10 run of conduit. 11 (d) All conduits are to be located behind the curb, within the parkway area of the street, unless 12 other locations are preferred by the Planning Commi s s ion. 15 14 (e) All service laterals from street to home shall be: 15 (!) Section III: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this 5 Ordinance, and shall cause it to be published as re- quired by law.
