2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALI-
FORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 438, AND ESTAB-
3 LISHING PERIODS DURING WHICH NON-CONFORMING
OFF-PREMISE SIGNS MAY BE MAINTAINED, AND
,,~ 4 PROVIDING FOR THEIR REMOVAL THEREAFTER
5 The City of Tustin does ordain as follows:
6 The Sign Ordinance of the City of Tustin, Ordinance
7 No. 438, as amended, is hereby amended by the amendment of Section
8 5 of Article IV to read as follows:
9 Section 5 Non-Conforming Signs
10 An sign lawfully in existence immediately prior
to J~Y 22 · 1969 , the effective date of Ordi-
11 nance 438, may continue to be maintained and used as
a lawful, non-conforming sign, except as otherwise
12 provided in the ordinances of the City of Tustin
l~ Any such sign may be voluntarily modified or
14 altered, if such action will result in a substantial
~i reduction in the degree of non-conformity and a build-
15 ing permit is secured therefor;
Provided, however, that ~on-conforming, off-
-16 premise signs including billboards may be continued
~ · ·
as lawful, non-conforming uses only until May 1, 1976,
17 and thereupon shall no longer be permitted uses or
structures; provided, further, however, that each such
18 sign originally constructed at a cost in excess of
Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) and less than Three Thou-
19 sand Dollars ($3,000.00), as evidenced by the construc-
t'ion permit on record in the records of the City of
20 Tustin, may be maintained until May 1, 1977, and each
such sign originally constructed at a cost in excess of
~1 Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00), as evidenced by
the construction permit on record in the records of the
~2 City of Tustin, may be maintained until May 1, 1978.
~3 PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
Z4 Council of the City of Tustin, held on the 2nd day of April, 1973. ·

certify that the whole number of members of the City Council
of the City of Tustin is five; that'the above and fore-
going Ordinance No. 577 was duly and regularly introduced
and read at a regular meeting of the City Council held on
the 19th day of March , 197 3 , and was given
its second reading and duly passed and adopted at a regular
meeting held on the 2nd day of .April , 1973, by
the following vote:
