Shingleton Assistant City Manager CAS:sr:300ecr.COA is U.S. Intec, Inc. • SBS MODIFIED RAI/F BITUMEN ROOFING MEMBRANES At U.S. Intec, Inc., we know why modified bitumen roofing has taken the commercial -industrial roofing market by storm. We ought to know — we've been a pioneer in the industry. Our BRAT/FLEX Roofing Membranes offer contractors fast, safe and easy installation. What's more, we provide training, technical support and excellent warranties. At U.S. Intec, Inc., we constantly ensure BRAI/FLEX Roofing Membranes remain foremost in quality and first in per- formance. We test. We analyze. We innovate. The result: products with the rugged characteristics you need and demand. High resistance to temperature extremes, puncture and oxidation. High tensile strength. Cold weather flexibility. Excellent bondability. Superior elasticity. BRAI/FLEX Roofing Membranes also offer architects and specifiers almost unlimited design freedom. Today's con- struction trends demand lighter roofing systems without compromising quality. BRAI/FLEX meets the challenge head- on and wins. It offers the functional flexibility you need while resisting the long-term effects of direct exposure to the elements. BRAUFLEX Roofing Membranes There's a reason why U.S. Intec, Inc. can make such bold claims with confidence. We're dedicated to maintaining techni- cal advances in the manufacturing and installation techniques that have already put BRAI APP modified bitumen or U.S. Intec products at the forefront of the modified bitumen roofing industry. Our BRAI/FLEX membranes are manufactured. to exacting specifications. An exclusive formula of straight asphaltic bitu- men modified by SBS (Styrene -Butadiene -Styrene) polymers ensures the extraordinary heat resistance, low temperature flexibility, and unique workability. BRAI/FLEX M, 170, and S are reinforced with tough, non- woven Trevira0 polyester fabric impregnated on both sides with SBS modified bitumen. BRAI/FLEX G 2 CAP membrane is manufactured identically except for the use of a non -woven fiberglass felt, which retains superior BRAI/FLEX qualities. The BRAI/FLEX M, 170, and G 2 CAP membranes have a mineral surface which permits easy handling and workability, Application of Brai/Flex and comes in several colors, including white, tan, slate, black, chocolate brown, and terra cotta. Custom colors are available upon request. Designed to be fully adhered with a steep grade asphalt, modified asphalt or cold adhesive, BRAI/FLEX Roofing Membranes offers excellent resistance to stress caused by mechanical loading.. BRA[/FLEX S is a smooth surface membrane and must be surfaced with a flood coat of asphalt and gravel. BRAI/FLEX S provides the best of modified bitumen and BUR technology. U.S. Intec, Inc. also offers SBS modified base sheets as underlayments for the BRAI/FLEX Roofing Membranes. FLEX BASE FR -60 and INTEC MODIFIED BASE PLUS provide the high quality performance many manufacturers reserve only for the capping membrane. Both products are smooth surfaced, fiberglass felt reinforced, and when used in conjunction with BRAI/FLEX Roofing Membranes form a durable, flexible roof system which maintains integrity and waterproofing properties over a wide range of roof constructions and climatic conditions. BRAI/FLEX FR Membranes The BRA[/FLEX FR membranes and base/ply sheets are used to create various roofing systems that are classified by Underwriters Laboratories as Class A over both combustible and noncombustible decks. For specific UL classified assem- blies contact your U.S. Intec Representative or the Technical Services Roofing Hotline at 1-800-624-6832. Storage and Preparation BRAI/FLEX Roofing Membranes must be stored in a dry loca- tion and stacked on end to prevent edge damage. Rolls stored on a roof deck should be stacked on a pallet and securely covered to prevent the accumulation of moisture. Any surface over which BRAI/FLEX Roofing Membrane is to be installed must be designed and installed in accordance with the standards of the manufacturer, industry, or acceptable association. The surface must be rigid, smooth, dry, and clean of all debris and foreign matter. Any surface defects must be corrected before the membrane is installed. All masonry and metal should be primed with asphalt roof primer. BRAI/FLEX Brown (Actual colors of product may vary from colors shown. a BRAI/FLEX MEMBRANES • Roofing Membrane shall not be installed at outside tempera- tures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Application BRAI/FLEX Roofing Membrane shall be installed with ASTM D312 Type III or Type IV asphalt. If the slope of the roof exceeds 1 inch per foot, contact the U.S. Intec Technical Services Roofing Hotline at 1-800-624-6832. When applying BRAI/FLEX Membranes, the point of appli- cation temperature of the asphalt must be at the equiviscous temperature (EVT) or 25 degrees higher. Use a mopping rate of 25 pounds of asphalt per 100 square feet per ply. There should be a flow of asphalt out of all seams. It is very important to obtain total adhesion at the seams. BRAI/FLEX should be rolled in place immediately behind the mopping of hot asphalt and firmly embedded in the asphalt. BRAI/FLEX Roofing Membranes seam overlaps should be six-inch head (end) laps and four -inch side laps, using the selvedge lines. All seam overlaps should ensure that the flow of water is over and perpendicular to the laps and never into them. This is accomplished by always commencing the appli- cation of BRAI/FLEX• Roofing Membrane at the lowest point of the roof deck and working toward the.highest point. On slopes greater than 1'/2 inches per foot, the membrane must be installed parallel to the roof slope and end laps backed nailed. Do not apply BRAI/FLEX Roofing Membrane over loose or improperly anchored roof decks. Do not apply BRAI/FLEX when snow or ice is present on the surface to be covered. And do not apply over wet insulation or moisture trapped in the existing roof. For specific application instructions, consult the most recent U.S. Intec Specification Manual for application of BRAI/FLEX Roofing Membrane. BFDS-Rev. 11/92/10M SBS Adhesive Application U.S. Intec developed Matrix SB and Matrix SB Trowel Grade for use as a cold process adhesive and roof cement, respec- tively, for applying Brai/Flex Roof Membrane Systems. Matrix SB and Matrix SB Trowel Grade are direct substitutes for Type IV asphalt where hot asphalt is prohibited, not desirable or impractical in Brai/Flex Systems. Warranties available up to 10 years only for all roof systems applied using cold adhesives Matrix SB Application. Matrix SB products should not be applied when tempera- tures are above 45 degrees F. Matrix SB products should not be applied on substrates that exceed 140 degrees F. Matrix SB products should not be used with APP (Atactic Polypropylene) modified bitumen prod- ucts. Matrix SB products shall not be used in below grade applications. MATRIX SB PRODUCTS ARE COMBUSTIBLE AND SHOULD ALWAYS BE KEPT AWAY FROM HEAT, OPEN FLAME, OR ANY SOURCE OF IGNITION. Empty containers must be disposed in posted toxic substance land- fills in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.
