HomeMy WebLinkAbout2ND ST W 340 11/28/1997r CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS 340 WEST SECOND STREET INSTALLATION OF A FENCE FOR A NON-CONTRIBUTING STRUCTURE OCTOBER 28, 1997 In accordance with Ordinance No.. 1001 which was adopted June 20, 1988, by the Tustin City Council, the Community Development Director has the authority to approve, approve with conditions or deny Certification of Appropriateness for improvements requiring a City building permit for property located within a Cultural Resources District. The following findings are required before a Certificate of Appropriateness is issued: A. The proposed work conforms to the Municipal Code and design standards which may be established from time to time by the Cultural Resources Advisory Committee. B. The proposed work does not adversely affect the character of the District or a Designated Cultural Resource within the District. C. The proposed work is harmonious with existing surroundings. The extent of harmony shall be evaluated in terms of appropriateness of materials, scale, size, height, placement and use of a new building or structure in relationship to existing buildings and structures and the surrounding setting. The proposed project is the construction of a fence along the western property line at 340 West Second Street, a non-contributing structure. The project includes removal of an existing chain link fence, and erecting a lattice -topped, closed slat fence. The color is white, which blends with the existing fencing on the property which is also topped with a section of lattice. The Community Development Department has reviewed the proposed material for the fencing and has determined that the proposal is in conformance with the above requirements. The Cultural Resource District Residential Design Guidelines designate chain link as unacceptable fencing material, and the proposal would eliminate existing chain link fencing. With the post -top finials removed, the proposed material closely matches the existing trim and fencing of the single family residence in color, composition, and pattern. The proposed work is hereby--a-Qproved . El'±aabe.th A. ` Binsack Director of Community Development BE.340w2nd2.coa
