HomeMy WebLinkAbout2ND ST W 435 02/27/1998G Community Development Department February 27, 1998 CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS 435 West 2nd Street CONSTRUCTION OF NEW FENCE � T�l�tlC1 300 Centennial Way Tustin, CA 92780 (714) 573-3100 In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001 which was adopted June 20, 1988 by the Tustin City Council, the Community Development Director has the authority to approve, approve with conditions or deny Certificates of Appropriateness for improvements requiring a City building permit for property located within a Cultural Resource District. The proposed project includes the construction of a new wood fence to replace an existing fence alteration to an "C" rated structure per the Tustin Historical Resources Survey. The Community Development Department finds and determines as follows: A. The proposed work conforms to the Municipal Code and any applicable design standards in that in accordance with TCC Section 9271 (i) (1) (a) the fence in the side yard will not exceed six feet eight inches (6'811) in height. It will be only six (6) feet in height in the side yard. In accordance with TCC Section 9271(i) (1) (b) the side yard fencing within the front yard setback will not exceed three (3) feet in height. That section of fencing will only be three (3) feet in height. B. The proposed work does not adversely affect the character of the District or Designated Cultural Resources within the District in that the proposed fence replaces a dilapidated fence with one of the same style, appropriate for Colonial or Craftsman style houses. C. The proposed work is harmonious with existing surroundings in that the new fence is consistent with the stvle of the existing fence, and it is a wood board and batten fence appropriate for Colonial and Craftsman style houses. The subject property has a Craftsman style house, and the neighborhood consists mostly of Craftsman and Colonial style houses. Certificate of Appropriateness 420 West Main Street February 27, 1998 The proposed work is hereby approved, subject to the following conditions: 1. Prior to the start of any work, the applicant shall obtain a building permit and pay all applicable plan check and permit fees. 2. Any replacement or repair of any existing features surrounding the fence shall match the existing materials, finish and colors of the existing structure. Elizabeth A.
