MAIN STREET Tustin, CA 92780 RE -ROOFING OF A RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE (714) 573-3100 JULY 7, 1997 In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001 which was adopted June 20, 1988, by the Tustin City Council, the Community Development Director has the authority to approve, approve with conditions or deny Certification of Appropriateness for improvements requiring a City building permit for property located within a Cultural Resources District. The following findings are required before a Certificate of Appropriateness is issued: A. The proposed work conforms to the Municipal Code and design standards which may be established from time to time by the Cultural Resources Advisory Committee. B. The proposed work does not adversely affect the character of the District or a Designated Cultural Resource within the District. C. The proposed work is harmonious with existing surroundings. The extent of harmony shall be evaluated in terms of appropriateness of materials, scale, size, height, placement and use of a new building or structure in relationship t existing buildings and structures and the surrounding setting. The proposed project is a re -roofing of a residential structure at 405 W. Main Street, a Designated Cultural Resource. The project includes removing existing roofing materials and re -installing a felt base and fiberglass shingles ("Pastel Green"). The Community Development Department has reviewed the proposed roofing material for the residence and has determined that the proposal is in conformance with the above requirements. The proposed roofing material closely matches the existing roof material in color, composition, and pattern. The proposed work is hereby approved, subject to the following condition: 1. The lean-to shed on the side of the residence shall be covered with the same roofing material as the main roof. 0 1 s CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS 405 W. MAIN STREET RE -ROOFING OF A RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE JULY 7, 1997 PAGE 2 2. All new metal edging, vent flashing, and chimney flashing shall be painted to match the color of the residence. 3. At the time the detached garage is proposed to be re -roofed, the roofing material shall match the existing roofing material on the residence. Elizabeth A.
