SIXTH STREET ADDITION OF A PORCH COLUMN TO A "B RATED" RESIDENTIAL VICTORIAN ITALIANATE STRUCTURE In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001 which was adopted June 20, .1988, by the Tustin City Council, the Community Development Director has the authority to approve, approve with conditions, or deny Certificates of Appropriateness for improvements requiring a City building permit for property located within'a Cultural Resource District. C. The proposed work is harmonious with existing surroundings in that the proposed porch column is of similar color and style to the existing porch columns. The proposed work is hereby approved, subject to the following conditions: 1. Based on a historical drawing of the house, there was a third column that was removed after the house was constructed. Since the porch is undergoing repair of wood damage, it is a more convenient time to add the column at this time. Although the column will be constructed with appropriate structural connections, it does not appear to be necessary from a structural perspective. If this request satisfies City requirements, please mail the Certificate of Appropriateness to the address in the footer below. Thank you for your assistance. During the 1920's the house was enlarged to add two bedrooms, a bathroom, and presumably a kitchen. During the 1940's the house was modified for apartment use. Then, in the early 1970's, the use of the house was converted into office use. Finally, it was relocated in 1990 from 640 W. 1St Street at the present address of 415 W. 6t" Street. It is estimated that during one of the renovation projects, prior to the 1970's, the center column for the front porch removed. A drawing of the house is contained in History of Santa Ana, City and Valley, October 15, 1887 published by The Paragon Ap-ency (0, noted below. f oufhern s California : Pacific -- - - - = 14 SAN F.\ \N.\ l'ITN AX1) A 1.I.
