BINSACK, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR SUBJECT: J CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS STAMP A Certificate of Appropriateness is required prior to issuance of a building permit for: • alteration of exterior features of a building or site within the Cultural Resources District, or • construction of improvements within the Cultural Resources District; or • demolition of any improvements within the Cultural Resources District; or • demolition and/or alteration of a Designated Cultural Resource. To expedite the process of issuance of a Certificate of Appropriateness, certain projects that conform to the Municipal Code, established design standards, and are consistent/compatible with the existing structure(s) and the surroundings in terms of appropriateness of materials, scales, size, height, placements, and use should be processed over the counter and approved using the Certificate of Appropriateness Stamp. However, careful consideration should be given prior to approval of any projects given the sensitivity of cultural resource issues to the City of Tustin. Certainly, when the proposed work is ambiguous please free to bring forward specific issues and/or questions. Those alterations and/or improvements that should be approved and stamped at the front counter are limited to minor improvements as follows: • Re -roofing with the same roof material and color; • Replacement of fence and/or block wall with same materials; • Replacement of HVAC at same location; • Patio covers not visible from public view; • Window replacement with the same size,. style, and color. 1!Y1^NW_ "40 All other improvements would need to be processed through the issuance of a Certificate of Appropriateness signed by the Director.
